BIO
Kylie Grimes is a British three time Paralympic athlete from London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. Kylie sustained a C6 complete spinal cord injury after a diving accident leaving her paralysed from the chest down with limited triceps and hand function. She spent nearly six months in recovery, landing in intensive care for two weeks with pneumonia after her operation. Through resilience and determination Kylie is now a Paralympic Gold Medalist. Kylie was part of the GB team to win their first ever gold in wheelchair rugby, at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, beating the USA 54–49. In doing so she became the first woman of any country to win a Paralympic gold medal in the sport. Kylie was awarded an MBE in the 2022 New Year Honours for services to wheelchair rugby.
