Jason Gillespie was born in Sydney, Australia and represented Australia and South Australia. Jason represented Glamorgan and Yorkshire in England. Since retiring Jason has coached Yorkshire, and Sussex and is the current coach of South Australian and the Adelaide Strikers. On November 29, 1996, Jason Gillespie ended Australia’s 119-year wait for its first Indigenous male Test cricketer. Of the 460 male cricketers to play Test cricket for Australia, only Gillespie and Scott Boland have Indigenous heritage. Jason took 259 wickets in 71 Tests making him the sixth-highest wicket-taker for Australia and giving him the 14th-best bowling average for Australian bowlers who have taken over a hundred wickets.
