Heather Fell became the fourth British woman to win an Olympic Modern Pentathlon medal when she won silver at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. That year Fell also won two medals on the World Cup circuit and took silver at the World Cup Final in Portugal, ensuring she finished the year ranked number one in the world.
