BIO
Gemma Collis is a Team GB Paralympic Wheelchair Fencer and the only Great British female to win a World Cup in Wheelchair Fencing. Gemma competed at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London only 11 months after taking up fencing and then went on to represent Team GB at the 2016 and 2020 Paralympic Games. In 2018, Gemma became the first and only British woman to win a World Cup Gold Medal - just a year after electing to have her right leg amputated in pursuit of a better quality of life after years of debilitating pain. She’s gone on to win a further 6 medals at World Cup events and is now aiming to become GB’s first female wheelchair fencer to win a Paralympic medal since 1988 at the Paris 2024 Games. Outside of her illustrious sporting career, Gemma also works as a Sports Producer for the BBC.
